There are a number of organisations that are here to help you, and may be able to offer financial support if required.  Click on the logos to find out about the work they do and if there is support available to you.  If you are unsure, please contact them directly to talk about your circumstances and how you may qualify for help.

An Access to Work grant can pay for practical support if you have a disability, health or mental health condition to help you:

start working –  stay in work – move into self-employment or start a business

Action for Kids

Action For Kids has been helping transform the lives of young people with physical and learning disabilities, across the country, since 1991, through the provision of mobility equipment, learning, training and support.

Alfayed Charitable Trust

Their work focuses on improving the lives of traumatised, impoverished and very sick children. It extends from supporting world-renowned children’s hospitals, to children’s hospices, schools and individuals.  

Aspire

Supporting people with Spinal Injury.  Through its projects and programmes, Aspire offers practical support to the 40,000 people living with a spinal cord injury in the UK so that they can lead fulfilled and independent lives in their homes, with their families, in work places and in leisure time.

The AT Society

Research funded and supported by the A-T Society has done a lot to advance our understanding of A-T and improve treatments. By bringing top scientists together and exploiting the latest advances in technology we will develop effective ways to treat and ultimately cure A-T.  

Barnardo’s

Barnardo’s believes in children regardless of their circumstances, gender, race, disability or behaviour. Their purpose as a charity today is to transform the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children

Bankers Benevolent Fund

Each year BBF help thousands of current and former bank employees and their families through the provision of information, advice, expert support services and in some cases financial assistance.

Blesma

They are the only national Service charity that supports limbless veterans for the duration of their lives, offering financial and emotional support to them and their families. Since WW1 Blesma have worked tirelessly to guarantee that our limbless veterans are not failed, forgotten or to left to fend for themselves.  

Cash for Kids

Cash for Kids responds to the needs of children in our communities so they can live life to the full and realise their individual potential.  Based across 22 areas in the UK, at the heart of your favourite radio stations, they support children aged 0-18 who are disabled, disadvantaged or suffering from abuse or neglect.

Caudwell Charitable Trust

Caudwell Children provide family support services, equipment, treatment and therapies for disabled children and their families across the UK. They also run an Enable Sport programme for talented disabled athletes and their Destination Dreams holiday for children fighting life-threatening conditions.

Children Today Charitable Trust

Children Today is a charity that raises funds to provide specialised equipment and services for children and young people with disabilities throughout the UK

Family Action:

Family Action transforms lives by providing practical, emotional and financial support to those who are experiencing poverty, disadvantage and social isolation across England.

Independence At Home

Independence at Home is a charity that provides grants to people of all ages who have a physical or learning disability or long term illness and who are in financial need.

Joseph Patrick Trust

The Joseph Patrick Trust (JPT), the welfare fund within Muscular Dystrophy UK provides grants towards the costs of specialist equipment such as powered wheelchairs, adapted computers and electric beds, for children and adults with muscular dystrophy or a related neuromuscular condition.

Make Them Smile

Their aim is to help as many children and their families as possible, whether it be for day trips, medical equipment, respite, hospital travel, or sadly making children’s remaining time as comfortable as possible, to include where achievable, children’s last wishes.

Newlife

Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children help disabled children and families in the UK with Nurse Services, Equipment Grants, Medical Research, Campaigns and Awareness.

R.A.B.I

The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution is a welfare charity which changes lives for the better.  They offer financial support to farming people in hardship of all ages. They treat every application for support on its own merits, working with compassion and discretion.

SSAFA

They exist to relieve need, suffering and distress amongst the Armed Forces, veterans and their families in order to support their independence and dignity.  

The Act Foundation

ACT provides small grants of up to £2,500 to individuals with the aim of enhancing the quality of life for people in need.

From sports-based rehabilitation courses and careers advice to dedicated care homes for older veterans, The Royal British Legion is there to ensure every member of the Armed Forces community receives the support they need.  They have been supporting Service men and women, veterans and their families since 1921

Variety The Childrens Charity

Variety provides coaches and bespoke wheelchairs, specialist, sensory and recreational equipment for use in the home, school, children’s hospitals and youth centres and creates memorable experiences through “Variety Great Days Out”.

Whizz Kids

Whizz Kidz want all disabled children’s lives to be full of fun, friendship and freedom. For us, the wheelchair is just the start – they also run clubs, camps, wheelchair skills training and work placements to help develop confidence and independence.

Wipe Away Those Tears

They are a charity which aims to grant a wish and bring a sparkle into the lives of terminally or seriously ill children in Essex. They have no overheads or administration costs, so every penny that is raised goes towards helping very special children.
